5spd swap

i have a 1997 V8 AWD XLT explorer i just picked up. it has an automatic (of course)...has anyone done a 5spd swap? is it possible to swap to manual and keep AWD or at least a 4406 manual shift transfer case?....it's just a daily, no off roading so i could go 2wd if required....what would i need to swap to a manual?....peddle box (from ranger or explorer with manual) i assume... tranny obviously...but which one?...i have the V8 so i imagine none of the ones from rangers or explorers would work....any leads on whether this has been done before?

Yes and yes, you would need the M5OD-R2 out of a F150 to make this work, but it is possible. @Kris Guilbeaux and @NICE59FORDF100 are currently in the process of doing a manual V8 conversion on a Sport Trac. You might want to message them here for further details.
