6 spd manual possible

my 91 explorer has a 4 spd auto is i possible to put a 6 spd manual in or even a 6 spd auto?

I suppose an mt82 getrag from a stang is POSSIBLE if your 2wd and have the tools and ability/help to do it. It has the same spline count as the 5 speed manual explorers come with so thats a start!

I do not think there is any 6 speed manual that can be made to fit the OHV 4.0 4x4 I am going to say no.
Somebody will correct me if it is possible
USshift.com has good info about Ford 5 and 6 speeds and their conversion abilities.

I have never heard of a 6MT to swap in. The 5 speed yes. And that is very doable with not a lot of work if you get a donor X.
