8.8 question

I would like to swap my 7.5 for a 8.8.
My question is there a 3.45 ratio 8.8 I could buy and do the swap?
If not what is a good way of getting the front and rear gear ratios the same?

get a 3.73 from explorer it will be swapable and its alredy 8.8 i think

Look for someone selling a d35 and an 8.8 from the same truck. That way the front will be stronger too. They come up every once in a while here from people doing the d44/9 swap.

Buy dont forget to ask if its open or locked rear differential...I have a 3.73 on my truck but its not limited slip its an open differential

I went to the salvage yard and got a first gen. X which came with a D35 front and 8.8 rear.

I've got brand new 8.8 Rear diff assy's for 595.00 plus shipping. I know it's more than a junkyard but they are brand new....

$595 is more than I paid for the whole truck with a replacement rear end, new brakes, tune up, o2 sensor, k&n and 30s. thanks though

I got an 8.8 with 4.10 LS and disc brakes out of a 2000 explorer for $150 from a salvage yard.
