8.8 Rear End

Im going to buy a 8.8 rear end from a junkyard. It has disc brakes and 4:10's w/trac lock.

Are there any of these axles that don't have 31 spline ? Is there a way that I can tell for sure that it came out of an explorer w/out opening the diff. ?

I know there is a tag that will tell me the ratio...but will it also indicate that its 31 spline ?

Most 8.8's are either 31 or 28 spline. I dunno if the tag will tell you anything - probably should, but since it's a disc brake system, pull the cover and remove a c-clip and pull the axle out and count away.
