1991 Ford Explorer sport
HI guys, I have a 91 ford explorer sport that I bought here in Puerto Rico (just got stationed here) and it has a lot of play in the steering wheel, while checking I came to find out that the steering shaft is very loose right where it meets with the steering column. any idea on how to fix this, I've looked for new ones but really haven't found one and in puerto rico most of the junk yards I've gone to don't have any explorers that years. Any help would be greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Is it the shaft or the bearing in the column? If the bearing is bad, you might get the same type of movement. Also the shaft between the two rag joints has a slip portion. There are plastic bushings inside the hold the two parts firm to each other. Make sure these are not missing or worn. I would try ebay or amazon for parts if you cant get them locally.
