Hi guys ,

This is my first post . I own a 91 Ranger 4.0 with a A4LD automatic. yesterday i was driving on the interstate and all of a sudden it started blowing tranny fluid out all over the bottom and smoking real bad from fluid hitting the exhaust. But can anyone please tell me why this happened ?

It's the main seal recommend replacing torque converter when replacing seal it gets scored when it blows.

i'd check cooler lines for a crack or wear through.

Was the truck getting abnormally hot? Like were you climbing a hill or towing? Mine did this climbing mountains and the seal leaked A LOT.. after it cooled down it got a lot better. Then a little lucas trans fix was added and it was fine since.
