So I'm putting my engine back together and Haynes manual mentions an oil pump gasket (where the pump mates to the block). There *is* a gasket for the pick up tube, but I don't have one for the pump-to-block mating. There is no evidence that there was a gasket (no tell-tale 'footprint'). The local parts house shows no part for this either.

Can anyone confirm from experience that there is or is not a gasket for this mating?

Thanks in advance,

Steve

Don't think there is...

(Self response here ). Pics I took of the disassembly, seen close up, also show no gasket footprint. There ain't one on the old pump or in the parts tub I used for the oil pan area. Looking at online pictures of an engine gasket set shows my little pick up tube gasket (oblong with 3 bolt holes and the passage) but no pump-to-block gasket. I'm just gonna bolt it up and be done with it.

Still if anyone can confirm I would appreciate it.

Thx, Steve :usa:

Yes there is a gasket between the pump and the block, and another gasket between the pump and the strainer. I would make sure you get that gasket in there.

I installed this less then a week ago.
