I have recently replaced the engine in my 93 explorer and now if you drive the explorer it actually dumps about a quart of transmition fluid every few miles. it is obviously not driveable like this. it just leaks right out of the bellhousing. most likely what do i need to replace.

That's quite a leak. I would guess that you may have damaged the front seal and/or the torque converter is not fully inserted into the bell housing. The torque converter on the A4LD is tricky to get inserted all the way and you can actually bolt the transmission up to the engine with the torque converter not inserted all the way.

it's the front main seal to the trans (aka front pump seal)

i learned this lesson the hard way as well. from now on, ALWAYS replace that seal whenever you have access to it (if the engine is out, or if the trans is out)

once they start to leak like you're describing, it's a matter of time before they burst and just dump fluid like a hose.

easiest fix would be drop the trans and change the seal.
