Well here is what she looks like now at the house next to her Younger sister.

Its a 93 Explorer XLT Eddie Baur edition. What my plans are is a SAS / SOA get 35" tires under her and then go play in the mountains. I am sure there will be MUCH more being done to her but for now this is what the plan is. I also want to get a winch for her and keep it hidden behind the bumper. The rear bumper I am planning a totally new one with a Tire carrier.

Last night I was able to get a D-30 from a ZJ for her front axle. Now to collect parts to get the put under her.
Here is what the axle looks like now. :)

Well last night I did some measuring and found that it will pretty much drop right in. Now of course gonna have to get the Lower control arm mounts mounted but as for the springs it will line up just right. I am pretty happy about that. I also took the cover off the axle and it looks pretty good. looking forward to getting it in stalled. but other things have to happen first. Get motor running good again then work on getting parts for the Mounts.

Why waste time with a Dana 30? I can't imagine it being any stronger than the Dana 35 already under it. I'd either get a Dana 44 or don't bother. From what I can tell, plenty of people run 35" tires on the Dana 35 TTB without issue.

A lot easier to lift and I do not plan on doing a lot of skinny pedal when out rock crawling and it was free. I know a guy that has a Jeep TJ with a D30 and running 37s and has no issues. Also cheaper to lift. So far into this build including purchase of vehicle I am down $40 just in gas to get vehicle home.

Nothing beats free!
If you look thru the SAS Registry section, there's more than a couple members who also put a D30 under their 1st Gen, if you need any reference or inspiration.

I have been looking and was only able to find one. I might have to dig deeper but I have been combing the SAS Registry a lot. A lot of good peeps here.

Hmm, maybe some didn't put a thread in the registry, so maybe also look in the projects forum.

Well its a change of plans. The 93 is not gonna get built. I will be building the 96 instead. The 96 has a lot less work to get trail ready then the 93. Also I need to get one of the running and registered soon so I can get out on the trails. Even if it is the easy ones that I run. Just need to get out there for my Mountain resets. Still gonna do a Solid axle swap and get the SOA done to fit 35's under her. Its just gonna be the 96 now instead of the 93.
