So swapped out a drivers side brake cable, and attempting g to rehook but not enough slack!!! Read in Haynes manual 93-94 have auto tenesioners for the parking brake cable.... My question is wtf..??? Lol but really how does this work? Is it the spring on the cable in the brake drum? How can I get more slack??? I'm not sure if its all "factory" in the e-brake department?????

The p-brake pedal has to be all the way up for the auto-tensioner to release.

Ford had a recall on these brake pedals over the auto tensioners slipping out of engagement while applying the brake. Ford's initial fix was to stick a little plastic wedge inside the mechanism to lock it out of operation. You may have to remove that wedge if it's present to get any more cable slack from it.

On mine however, that wedge kept popping out of the pedal, so after about the 4th time I demanded they replace the entire pedal assembly with a revised unit, which solved the problem (and I have a working auto-tensioner too).
