hey i have a stock 94' XLT 4x2 that is in really good condition but i want to lift it a little bit to be able to put some 32's or so on with good allterrain tires. I live in dallas and wont be rock crawling or anything of that sort but want to be able to get out of 2 inches of mud cause stock 2 wheel drive x's have about zero offroad capability or at least in wet conditions. I dont have anywhere to work on my truck so how much would wheels, tires, and a 2' / 3' lift cost to get done?

Get some mildly agressive 31's and a (locker/selectable locker/TrueTrac). They fit with no problems, don't affect handling, and make a huge difference in traction. All a lift will do for you is compromise the way it handles. If you are constantly hanging up the frame on obstacles, thats a different story, and you'll want some lift. I drove mine stock with 31's and a TrueTrac for a good while, and was very impresed with the available traction. I think its due to the amount of weight over the rear compared to my other vehicles. With 2wd, just remember that momentum is your friend!

Good Tires and a locker are nice, but common sense is a must. Look for the easy line and dont go crazy.
For that lifted look, a body life is around $100 or so just for parts. Performance Accessories has good kits. They are not difficult to install, provided you have basic tool skills and a full day. I think installation here in Bham is around $600, so you can see the savings by doing it yourself. Ive seen a step by step body kit done with pics using the search tool. A great tire that seems to last is the BFG AT/KO. These are just tough tires that look great too. $500-$650 depending on the shop. NTB actually will let you try them out for 30days, and will swap them if you hate them.
When and if you get it done, send me a pic. Would love to see another 2wd ready for dirt.

I would also vote for the 3" body lift. That was the first lift i got and it was an awesome setup with 31-32's

Second on the BFG AT as a great all-around tire, with lots of pavement miles. in the dirt you can't beat something a little more agressive tho. BFG, Yokohama, even Bad Year MT-R's work really well.

The body lift and BFG AT's are great choices..I am running and love em

i second the trutrac idea... it was quite nice. worked great offroad and had good street manners. i'd go with 32's and a 3" body lift if your stock gears will work with a 32"
