I just picked up a94 explorer sport 4wd standard now my question is this.... when I push he clutch in it is alot harder than I am used to and when I let the clutch out it doesn't grab till its almost all the way out and slips a lot but the Guy I bought it from claims they just replaced the clutch a year ago it slips all the time and in every gear...

Well, that seems like the clutch is either dead. When a clutch is dead you will notice it wont engage until late in the clutch release. Or, your clutch fluid is really low. It's the little container near your brake booster. Read the lid, it will tell you where the clutch fluid should be filled to. If the fluid is low it will give you similar symptoms.

Fluid not low by any meansand I know what a bad clutch feels like almost feels like a bad flywheel or he pressure plate is not being released all the way

Oh, well you know more then i do then :P just trying to help.

When I got mine that stiff clutch took some getting used too. Felt like I was gonna break the back of the seat pushing on it. that sort of thing.

The PO claims a new clutch? And they drove it that way for a year? Don't suppose they provided a receipt, part number you could check?

Tremblor, he's right about the low fluid, friction point goes to the floor, comes up towards the top when it's re-filled.

No reciept....he said it was replaced a year ago an it was fine....then like 2-3 months ago it started doing his then he brought it to a local tranny shop the did "something to it" and it was fine till a couple weeks ago and they didn't want to put anymore time or money into it.

Is this info the PO told you during the sale or are you still talking to them?
I'd sure like to know what that *something to it* would be. That'd be worth knowing if it's real. Can you talk to the local tranny shop?

People can say anything they want and often do. Picked up a Ranger real cheap that was supposed to have a starter problem. Yeah, right. More like a starting problem. When I did get it started the rods knocked so bad I couldn't believe they hadn't broken. Then couldn't get it in gear.Cllutch problem too.
But the body was worth it.
