94 explorer keyless remote

i have a 94 explorer i beleive i got an after market keyless remote i was wondering where do they install the unit in the car? so i can get the serial number so i can get the remote. (piano music) i did have the remote but 2 days after owning my explorer my house burnt down so my keys went with it. thanks.

If it's an aftermarket system, it's usually installed under the dash around the steering column. Factory units are installed elsewhere. I think it's in the rear somewhere, but not 100% sure.

If you got the "anti theft" light on the dash it'll be a stock system. In which case stock remotes with programing guides are alllllll over ebay.
