92 XLT remote start

Ok, I tried search and was unable to locate any info. I would like to put a remote start on my X, but it is a standard. Can someone tell me which system is the easiest to get around this problem. I do not have any alarm right now so this would be a fresh install.

Are you doing it yourself? I can get you the wire color info if you need it.

I'm going to do it myself. I like doing what I can. I've seen systems here at Sam's club for under $100. Thought it would be nice to also have a remote for my power door locks

Brake Light:

Tach Signal:

Parking Lights:

Constant +12 Volts:

IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS

OEM Alarm Disarm:

The Tach signal will be an AC voltage between 1 and 8 volts

All the Ignition wires must be hooked up for it to work.

You have to hook up the start wire after the neutral safety switch.

I will have a pic or link for the doorlocks in a bit.

When testing for lock / unlock / trunk wires, closely follow the instructions and when checking electrical connections, use a volt meter (multi-meter, voltage meter, etc.), DO NOT use a test light. It is easy to accidentally damage the circuitry in modern vehicles testing for wires with a test light.

Reverse polarity systems are
more complicated than many
other types of door lock systems.
The door lock system sends +12
volts in one direction while
holding chassis ground in the
other direction. This is true for
both lock and unlock. Testing for
this system, you will check for
continuity to chassis on the lock
and unlock wires at rest (nothing
being presed) as well as a +12
volt pulse on the lock and unlock
wires when pressing the door
switch.
Just like a positive triggered
system, the lock wire will register
+12 volts when you press the lock
switch, and the unlock wire will
register +12 volts when you press
the unlock switch.With reverse
polarity, when neither switch is
being pressed, these wires will
show continuity to ground on
your meter-. On a positive
system, the wires will show a high
resistance to ground rather than
a dead short.When you have
located the correct wires cut
them in half. Without pressing
the lock/unlock switches---The
side of the wires that continue to
show continuity to ground are
switch side and the motor side will
be open.
Connect the switch side and
motor side of each wire per the
diagrams on the right. Note that
improper connection may
damage your vehicle or module.

Just please make sure your X is NOT IN GEAR when you remote start it. The truck will lunge forward & crash into something, or someone.

You have to put it in ready mode before you can remote start it. You gotta put the e-brake on, get out, turn it off with the remote before it will remote start. That's why you gotta buy a remote starter for a standard not an automatic.

I pu one in my 92, no big deal just lots of scraped knuckles. It was an auto, but iI thought there would be a neutral safety switch that would prevent it from starting in gear, no?

Your's is built right into the transmission where as on a standard, the neutral safety switch is on the clutch peddel(SP?)

I didn't think that they made remote starters for standards. for liability reasons I thought. Thanks for al the information. I'll probably try this on my X then on the wifes Civix(also a standard)

No problem. If you need the wire colors for the Civix, just PM me the make model year and your e-mail

Edit-Civic not civix-I made the mistake too ;)
