Alec, I like that option, but this one is a full size cowl, it looks just like PurPony's cowl hood. It is just the cowl though.

How big is your blister in relation to the hood. Do you have any pics of it just sitting on your rig?

Cowl Hoods

Unlimited seems to have a pretty broad choice of cowl hoods for the rangers and 95-97 Explorers. All under $400. Both regular street weight and race weight from 2.5 to 6 inches in height.

Buffalo and Proglass both have the Shaker assemblies for 2001+Explorers, but at $750+ they are expensive.

I saw a listing in Sport Truck Magazine for Goodmark also...Have not researched it yet though.

Can anybody confirm that the hoods match on 93-97 Rangers and 95-97 Explorers? If that's the case, there are quite a few manufacturers out there with hoods.

I dont think they do.

The only difference in the hoods from 95-97 and 98-01 is the latch (as far as I know).

If they don't match, then Unlimited is the only place I have found that lists 95-97 cowl hoods. (The listings above are copied right from their web page.)

If they are the same, then Goodmark has them too, in steel.

Ranger hoods are not compatible with 2nd gen Explorers.

Looking at pics they sure look like they would work, the stock ranger hood doesn't have the small factory buldge like the explorer hoods do but they look the same and the fenderline and front look the same.

It's been tried before, Ranger hood mounts differently and has a different contour at the top.

Would they fit with hood pins? Since the cowl hood is "bulged" at the top, would that help with the contour situation?
