I would like to service the transmission on the above vehicle I just purchased for my son. It's a high miler, 176,000, and the service is pretty much unknown on transmission. It seems to shift fine and all, but I'd like to start out with a bench mark and change fluid. What's the best method of a transmission fluid change with this kind of mileage? I've read where a flush (backflush-type) would possibly be detrimental to a vehicle's transmission with high mileage by knocking loose all sorts of contaminents? Any help would be appreciated.
