96 explorer 4x4 wont move

hi. my 96 explorer pulled away at a light to about 25mph, then the trans went into neutral. it will only move about an inch per 5 secs in forward or reverse. the fluid is ok and full. i think it may be the torque converter. it had no symptoms or warnings, it just stopped moving. if it is the converter, would it have done enough damage to need another trans or rebuild? if the fluid looks clean without debris should a new converter work? thanks in advance.

Might be your solenoids in the valve body. Just did my VB and it did not move forward or reverse until I put my old one back.
