96 Explorer Belt Change

The air conditioning pump on my Explorer hasn't been connected for years and now it makes a squeeling sound. What I would like to know is if i take the pump out can i put a smaller belt on to make up for the lost pulley?

Yes you can, go to the parts store and ask for a belt for a explorer w/o AC.
