I have lost forward gears but reverse works flawlessly. Transmission fluid looks good and full.
I was just thinking of replacing transmission with a good one in the meantime.
Will a transmission from any other vehicle that had a 5.0 work for this. To my knowledge from a lot of reading the 4r70w is different than the cars 4r70 and that the 96-97 explorer/mountaineer have a specific transmission to just those 2 years.
Will an f150 5.0 2wd work for my explorer v8 rwd if near same year? Cannot seem to find one for it so I need some other options. Rebuild is $1600 and I don't care to put that much into a 200k mile truck.
