I am now quite confused. I have read many of the posts on O2 sensors in the forums, and from checking my vehicle, I can find only 3 O2 sensors. My Chilton's manual and Autozone both say that there are 4. The 3 that I found are located: 1) after cat converter, 2) driver side in exhaust manifold in front of cat converter, and 3) passenger side in exhaust manifold in front of cat converter. In fact, the picture in the Chilton's manual displays the exact same configuration but for a Ranger pickup. How many 02 sensors does my 96 XLT 6-cyl have?

Also which one is Bank 1 Sensor 1? Well for that matter how are they all identified?

Thanks,

bump

Please, I really need to know!

I may be wrong, but I believe bank 1 is passenger; so b1s1 would be the passenger header sensor.

Yep, Bank 1 always refers to the side of the engine with No.1 cylinder, on your Ford, that would be the passenger side. And Sensor 1 would be the first, or pre-cat sensor.
