97 4.0 Ranger Engine, in a 96 4.0 Eddie Explorer?

I have a 1996 4.0 Auto Eddie, with a bad #6 cyl. I found a guy parting out a 97 4.0 Auto Ranger on Craigslist. He is looking for $650 for the motor, now sure how many miles yet. Will it fit in my 96 Explorer?

Is his engine OHV or SOHC? Is yours OHV or SOHC?

Mine is an OHV

I do not know (yet) if the other is as well, but that is a very good question. I did not think the SOHC was available in 97.
