Greetings everyone. I just acquired a nearly flawless 1997 Mountaineer V8. I tried searching the archives for the answer to my starting problem, but I came up short.

Sometimes it will crank but not start and needs to be let sit for anywhere from 1 to 10 minutes before it will start.

The only condition that I can guess is related to the problem is when the truck is parked on even a very gentle slope upward or downward. The problem can occur on both hot and cold starts.

I have a stack of records showing recently replaced parts, mostly electrical. My gut suggests that I look at the fuel pump or pressure regulator next.

Other possibly undrelated conditions include an intermittent check engine light (I have not read the code yet) and poorer fuel mileage than the previous owner's history would lead me to expect.

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Thank you in advance!

regards,
- -Matt
