97 Explorer with transmission issues.

i bought my 97 explorer 4.0 sohc 4x4 automatic it would not move in reveres so i rebuilt it fixed that but before and after the rebuild second gear shifts twice before going to third when it goes into overdrive its fine when i let off the gas it feels like it went back to third once back on the gas its fine i didnt check the sevros on would that be the problem

i did take the valve body apart to clean replace the 4 balls and the gaskets when i rebulit the transmission

will not having a spring in my reverse servo effect my transmission

You don't have a spring in that location on your transmission. The older A4LD had a spring.

could my speed odometer sensor be causing my shift problem it works but when i had my code scanner on it it shows no speed

hi well i have put over 1200 miles on my transmission it has not went out as i drove it it only got better im used to driving cars with the 3 speed with od transmisions so i wasnt sure how the 5 speed automatic shift patterns are but now i have to fixed the engine issue (the timming chains)
