Have 97 Explorer XLT 5.0L. damned thing keeps popping up P0442. Last year, I replaced the fuel tank as it had rotted through where the strap sits on the seam. No problems other than working on my back on a gravel driveway. Lately, I have been popping a CEL. When I pull codes KOER, no codes present. In mem codes, have P1000 (OBD monitor not ready-made probably because of clearing the accompanying P0442). Replaced fuel cap with Motorcraft part. Runs about 2 weeks then decides to pop a code. Again, KOER no codes present. In mem codes, again P1000 and P0442. What am I missing?
