97 Ford explorer awd

Hello I'm new. I have a 97 Ford awd 5.0. The joint went out on the front drive shaft connected to the transfer case. I replaced the whole shaft but it pops in acceleration. I'm not sure if its still the shaft maybe being not long enough or what

The front driveshaft you used where did it come from?
Are you sure it is not a CV axle?
How many miles on your 97?
Have you checked the transfer case fluid condition and level?
How is the rear driveshaft?

It is quite possible your AWD is simply worn out and the t case has developed an issue. But first lets eliminate the rear shaft and front CV axles as the issue.


There is a rebuild kit available to rebuild the CV style joint at the t case
