97 ford explorer knocking

I have a 97 explorer xlt with a 4.0 sohc engine. I have 4wd also, there seems to be a knocking noise when I make a sharp left turn and it also happens intermittently I have no idea what it is. Its driving me absolutely nuts, also it sounds like its coming from my rear end some times and other times my front end but mostly my front end, I've had my sway bar links replaced
