Hey all
I had been noticing a fuel odor after filling up my tank for several months. I thought there was a problem with the "float" since the fuel level can change +/- 1/4 tank when parked on a hill.
Finally while filling up, I noticed a "drip drip drip" above the drivers side rear wheel, at the junction where the fuel filler hose from behind the gas door meets the fuel line. Over a few days, the drip drip drip turned into a steady stream during filling.
I brought the vehicle to a family-owned garage, who determined that I needed a new fuel filler assembly. They only source the part from a Ford dealership - cost $337.00. I found an aftermarket replacement, part # Spectra Premium FN633, on www.rockauto.com for $105.99. Next day shipping only added $17.00.
A $450.00 repair dropped to just over $200.00. No more leak.
