98 Eddie Bauer Explorer 4wheel drive not working

Then I'm confused, I didnt know the transmission had a helical drive ramp and fork slider tabs.

OK, sorry to confuse here. When my 4405 t-case blew the clutch pack, it would use reverse or 1st gear only and was stuck in low range. This is why I asked about it shifting gears.

Further explaining to make this clear here:
1-would go into reverse and drive.
2-would drive in both gears
3-would not shift (transmission) out of 1st gear while driving forward-stuck in 1st gear.

Yes the shift motor only changes the t-case from High to low range, and back to high range. It is not shifting for anything else. I thought it was pretty obvious I was talking about the t-case when mentioning the fork and ramp.

We clear now?

So if it works fine on the jackstands, how do you know it is not working on the ground? Have you gone off road to test it again? Did you find some loose ground to try to spin the tires? Was anyone with you watching the front tires rotation compared to the rears?

Sounds like a t-case, i might have one if you want to change it at campground.?

So after all sorts of ATF and greese to my toes and all the fun I had laying under my car this weekend. I believe I have a conclusion to this problem. If any other disagree Im all ears. I pulled the transfer case out thinking I was going to pull it apart (No luck) but I did make some interesting discoveries, I had mechanic standing there with me. From all the threads on the BW 4405 control trac t-case and other members, I believe that most the internals minus the clutch packs are in good shape, as stated above turns all four wheels off the ground. I was able to get the same affect turning it by hand. I understand that the GEM controls a Electromagnetic ring that moves bearing which in turn moves the clutch. The electromagnetic Ring shouldnt ever go out. Second Im not getting and flashing lights or other issues so Im sticking to the clutch being the issue. Thanks all for the help if you all have other suggestions let me know.
