Hey there guys took my car for a test today.. after driving 20km with no problems, and then i stopped and started again, the transmission started flaring.. (as if it was a slipping clutch)

Also i noticed under the transmission it started leaking black... watery fluid..

Also checked the transmission level dipstick.. and this was black!!! and very watery.. couldnt read the correct level..

I have never changed the transmission fluid.. and i couldnt even tell you how much is still in..

Am in right in saying i am very over due a transmission service (change) could this fix my problem?

Help needed many thanks steve

If the trans is leaking, there could be a blown seal, you need to get under there and see where the fluid is coming from. If the fluid is low it will slip and you should not drive it like that or further damage will occur.

the trans is just leaking out of the over flow.... so is it low or too much.. as is it doesnt drive through the gears...

Make sure there is no radiator coolant in the fluid, if not it sounds like it over heated from internal damage. If the OD light is flashing a trans code is stored in the computer, get it read. It sounds like it is going to need rebuilt.

the engine has just been rebuilt and there is no coolant in there.. i know the engine in 100%.. so no fault there.. there is no lights flashing or fault.. its just dump loads of watery black fluid... and showing the same on the dipstick and lost or nearly lost drive.. i am thinking towards a trans rebuild...

Make sure the trans cooling lines that run to the radiator didn't get crushed, this could cause over heating. Adding fluid may make it work again. Check dipstick level, in park with engine running.
