Hi Guys,
I have a 98 Eddie Bauer v6 sohc and have a leak on top of my thermostat housing. I replaced the coolant temp sensor and the thermostat which took care of most of the problem but still have a slight leak. The temp sensor is closest to the driver side but what is the sensor closest to passenger side? When searching auto stores I only see the coolant temp sensor?
Thanks

You have a SENSOR and a SENDER. The sensor give coolant temp info to the ECU, the sender works the coolant temp gauge in the instrument cluster.

Often the screw-in type sender/sensor will cause leaks in the upper t-stat housing if they are disturbed. Later models used sender/sensor that push-in, are sealed with an O-ring and have a clip that holds them in place. You may need to replace the upper t-stat housing to stop your leak. You can upgrade to the newer style housing, but you'll need to buy the newer style sender and sensor.
