I bought his 2wd explorer with no reverse. all forward gears are fine. i can hear the trans drop into gear ( the normal, very small clunk the drivetrain makes when first dropped into gear ). it makes this sound when the shift lever is dropped into drive or reverse. pulls fine forward, no pull at all in reverse... after readin many post on this forum, i can't come to any conclusion. none of the posts i have read mentions the small clunk sound... is this small clunk enough of a clue to say with any certainty what the problem most likely is?
