98 XLT Flashing OD Light

My XLT starting shifting out of OD to Drive while going down the highway. The next sympton was the OD light flashing. Now it will only move in the lower gears. I have 130,000 miles on it. I am assuming it needs a tranny rebuild, but want to make sure it's not an electrical issue. Any ideas?

Stop driving it and take it to a shop. Flashing O/D light means the transmission is in fail safe mode and applying full line pressure. Driving it like this will wreck it. Take it to a shop and they can diagnose the issue.

I recommend you get someone to extract the code(s) and give us a shout back
as to what they are. Have you checked the trans fluid for smell or color? Has any routine service been carried out on the trans.
