Sounds good, but I have a problem.
The amp takes both speaker level and low level inputs, and I'm using the speaker level inputs.
I replaced the stock premium speakers with Pioneers, and since the Pioneers didn't ground one wire to the speaker frame, I ignored any polarity when soldering the factory speaker wire to the new speakers.
Now, the Visonik amp has 5 (five) wires for the speaker level inputs: left - and left +, and right - and right + and one marked "signal ground."
When I hook everything up, and ignore the signal ground wire, I get audio, but it does not seem to be amplified above what the rest of the speakers are getting. When I hook the signal ground wire to one of the other input ground wires, that speaker gets full power, but the other one only gets low level power. When I move the signal ground to the other negative speaker wire, the other speaker gets full power. Can't get them both to work at the same time.
When I tried to connect the signal ground to both negative speaker inputs at the same time, no sound at all (short?).
Does ground matter on the speaker leads going to the original speakers?
here are the color codes of the wires in my rear doors:
Right rear (pass)
Orange w/red stripe
Purple w/pink stripe (at least it looks purple)
Left rear (drivers)
Grey w/blue stripe
Brown w/white(or yellow?)stripe
Again, I wired my stuff up with no regard for polarity on the speaker leads, but my +12 and chassis grounds are correct.
Stock 97 Explorer V8 AWD with premium audio and 6 disk cd changer in center console.
PS, the subs are two 10 inch in a nice enclosure, and the amp is a 800 watt, or 400 into two channels. Really thumps, and it's only half working!
Thanks
Greg
