my 1999 ford explorer, is stuck in 4WD high, it will shift from 4 LOW to 4 HIGH but wont come out of 4 HIGH to 2 WD, does anyone know any tricks to get it out?

could be the shift motor is not cycling properly, maybe remove it from the transfer case and action the switch in the dash , see what it does,
