99 Explorer tranny problem?

I have a 99 2wd Explorer and yesterday when I had problems getting it into gear...I started my motor put my foot on the brake then tryed putting it into drive and I got nothing.Then about 5-10 sec it finally went into gear.Anybody have this problem?

not yet it has only happen to me once lastnight in the rain...I am going to check it when I go over to my parents house today..

Every since I bought the explorer,when going from park into drive I have to put it in 2nd gear first then go into drive.I can go from park to drive but it will slam into gear.The guy I bought it from told me he had it checked and it was a sensor and that nothing was major wrong with it so he had always went from park to 2nd gear then drive.....

It sounds like the fluid level is low or the filter is partially clogged.

thanks man I will have it checked out.....Do you think it would be good to do a tranny flush?It has 186k

You could add a quart while draining a quart. The filter will still have to be replaced with new O ring seals. Don't use a power flush machine.
