1999 Ford Explorer XLT
I have a 99 V6 pushrod XLT that won't start. I've changed the battery and had the alternator checked (good). Last week it started but with hard cranking or with a jump. Now the engine cranks but doesn't fire. Wires are all good and tight. No vacuum leaks. I'm thinking it might be the fuel pump or filter.

I have a 97 Explorer and the engine would turn over and not fire. Come back 30 minutes and it would crank fine. Did this for several weeks. Ended up changing the crank shaft positioning sensor and haven't had a problem since.

the crank position sensor is a pretty common problem for "no start" as well as low fuel pressure because the fuel pump is shot. it's also a good idea to check the contacts on the fuel pump relay and swap it out for another similar (less important) relay.

Changed out the crank positioning sensor and still no fire.
