'99 HU in a "97

Ok, I have a '97 with the non prem. tape deck and a cd changer. I have run across a '99 HU with built in amp and it has a single disc cd and tape and will also run my cd changer. The wiring is different I know this for a fact, but is there anyway to make this work? is it something I can do? or should I take it to a stereo shop?
