I want to replace my rear disk brakes this week before inspection and wanted to if I would run into any surprises. my big thing is I dont know how the e-brake adjustment works and if i need any special tools. I'm sorry if this is posted somewhere else but I looked and couln't find it.

the ebrake shouldnt require any adjustment

You will likely have to disengauge the ebrake, unless the shoes are totally beat. There is a rubber plug covering an access hole on the back of both brake shields. You will likely have to clean all the rust off of the arm that actuates the ebrake shoes. There is a slot it goes through that should be cleaned off as well. This will make sure the ebrake works in the future.

What about the caliper? will the piston just push back or do you have to turn it with a special tool ? i had a 93 cutlass supreme that the e-brake stayed on and it burned up the pads I was on vacation at the time and thought it would be a half hour fix. wrong! i didnt know you had to turn the piston into the caliper what a pain it took for ever!

The dealer cd recomended an eight inch c clamp. I used one, and it worked find. Make sure to only push it in far enogh to get it over the rotor.
