I have a 2010 explorer. When I travel up a hill or accelerate my ac starts blowing hot air. When I crest the hill the cool air resumes coming out of the vents. What is causing this problem and what is a fix ! ! !

AFAIK, all cars will un-clutch the A/C compressor at full throttle...sounds like maybe a throttle position sensor issue, maybe?

Hi Chris,

once on semi-full throttle the high pressure switch will disengage the AC compressor clutch to avoid high pressure to the system which is a fail-safe mechanism, I'm not aware of any solution for this if it's considered a problem.

you may check the gas pressure in the system at an AC shop.

Wot

It's due to what's called a wide open throttle circuit in the computer. It turns the compressor off under heavy load, over heating, passing conditions ect. It's meant to not impead performance.
