A/C blows thru defrost only

2006 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer blows a/c only thru defrost. Replaced the blend door actuator on the driver's side with no improvement. Have cold air on both sides. (dual EATC digital) No apparent vacuum hose breaks under-dash or in engine compartment. Thinking it's the blend door itself. Have heard of folks using baling wire to control the door, but not sure how to do that. Please comment if you've done this repair with success.

Function is vacuum controlled, my opinion is that there is a vacuum leak in the HVAC unit. There are several write ups and youtube videos on it's repair.


The blend door only adjusts air from warm to cold by directing air over the heater core or ac evaporator so it is not the issue. You are loosing vacuum somewhere.
