I'm having an issue with my A/C compressor in my 2000 Mountaineer. It makes a burning smell after driving for a while. The A/C does work and blow cold air. If the A/C is not on it seems to spin erratically and not very much. If you turn the A/C on if will spin more but stops every so often. I popped the hood and watched it in idle to determine this. Just wondering if it has to be replaced or if there is any maintenance that can be done on it. Any help would be appreciated.
