Just by looking around, I think I goofed already. I should have not started this thread here. I think I should have placed it at new members forum.. SORRY !!!!!

BrooklynBay,
No, I dont have any code yet.. This is what happenned.. This car hasnt been driven for a while. I start it up probably once a week just to charge the battery. Been doing this for almost 6 months. Everything ok, then suddenly the next time I started it, the engine light came up. It is a 1991 XLT. Where can I buy or rent a scanner to check codes? What can I check or clean in the meantime? Thanks in advance.

Code 22 (EOKO) translate to a MAP (manifold absolute pressure or baro sensor out of range). Can somebody please guide me on how to find that sensor.. Thanks.. my car is a 91 Explorer XLT..

This is what I did today..... Rechecked code, it is code 22 and code 66.. I checked pin A and pin B(ground) with the maf connector removed, and it is giving me a reading of 10.8 volts dc. I checked continuity in the sensor pins A and B, no reading at all. I also cleaned the sensor as per the threads mentioned previously. Does this means I have a bad MAF sensor? Anything else that I can check? Will resetting/ removing battery cable help me? If I do need a MAF where can I get an inexpensive one??

i believe fast parts network has them.

There are code definitions from my thread on 2, and 3 digit EEC-IV codes (http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=160035):

22 MAP (vacuum) or BARO signal out of range - MAP.

66 Vane Air Flow (VAF) or Mass Air Flow (MAF) signal low - VAF MAF
Transmission Oil Temperature (TOT) signal low (possibly grounded) - Transmissions.

Did you check your vacuum lines for cracks, leaks, and bad connections? Were the wires inside of the MAF sensor in good condition? Don't get the MAP sensor, and the MAF sensor confused. Check the links in # 42 in my list of useful threads for more information.

Sirs: Sorry, I am confused about the MAP and MAF... Those are two different sensors, right?? Code 22 and 66 points to MAP and MAF.. I know where to locate the MAF but not the MAP.. Where can I find the MAP sensor? Does 91 explorer xlt has a MAP? Can you please explain!! Thanks
