Ok here it goes. I bought this explorer for $400 bucks. Great running vehicle. Then the shift linkage comes loose. I crawl up under the truck and they had it connected with a zip-tie that of course broke. So I went and got the bushing and got it in to connect the linkage together. Now it acts like it doesn't want to go into gear. I can put it in drive or reverse and i have to wait like 15 seconds for it to finally kick into gear, and sometimes when it does finally kick in, it acts like it doesnt want to move. So I need your help to tell me what I need to do next. I know the tranny is good because before the linkage came apart it drove awesome. Do I need to look into adjusting the linkage and making it tighter. Sorry to sound stupid, Im only somewhat car savy. I hope someone on here has had the same problem and can help me. I would really appreciate all the help or suggestions I can get. Thanks!

By the way its a 1991 Ford Explorer XLT w/Auto Transmission

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed your thread, and moved it into the transmissions section. It sounds like the linkage needs to be adjusted. Check # 19 in my list of useful threads for more information.
