A4LD to ranger 5spd auto

Well my tranny is definetely on it's way out and i'm looking into my options. I've been researching a few things. I guess the 5 spd auto in the ranger was a modded A4LD. Does anyone know if this is a direct bolt up? I'd like to swap that in and have a lower 1st with a higher 5th for gas mileage. What a great combo!!! I guess another question would be do the rangers with the 5spd auto have the same transfer case? Any ideas???
