I am just starting upgrading my 92 XLT. I stopped in at Firestone for a set of 255/60R-15 Firehawk ss20 tires and the manager didnot want to install them cuz "the larger tires will ruin your ABS".
The OD is similar to the stock tire. The width and profile are different. How could they affect the ABS.

That is an untrue myth that just doesn't seem to want to die off.

As long as you replace all four tires and their sizes are equal, it won't affect the ABS. Go for it.

There are hundreds of modified vehicles represented on this site with larger tires. Click on my truck on my signature line, my '99 has ABS on all four wheels and 285/75r16 tires about 33" in diameter.
