1996 5.0L XLT AWD
Hello to all.
I have some ABS questions, having researched for information about the system works I don't understand everything I know about it. Specific information is a little difficult to find.

Vehicle is a 1996 Explorer XLT, 5.0L AWD, 129050 miles recently purchased in great condition. ABS light was set on.

I pulled codes with Innova 3160. There were 4 and I did not write all of them down.
C1185 ABS Relay output circuit fail
C1186 ABS Relay output open circuit
C1155 Left Front wheel speed sensor input circuit fail
don't remember the other

Erased the codes, ABS light off. Drove vehicle for short trip.
Turned ignition on, ABS light clears after test completes. Start engine, ABS light clears.
All is good (maybe). I was surprised it cleared.

This morning, ABS light fails to clear.
C1155 LF wheel sensor again. Erase fails (as expected) only briefly turning off light, failure is sealed in.
30F this morning, 65F yesterday at test.

Speed sensor should check at about 1000 ohms?
What ohms range is considered good?

Am I on the right track here?

Great info here, been doing a lot of reading.
Thanks for the help.

Here is achart from the service manual.

That was fast. Thank you.
WRONG I make that range as 1000-1400 ohms. WRONG
The correct ohms range is for the 4wd, at any rate the sensor tested infinite ohms, open circuit.
Edit: I have a decade box I can use to see if the fault will clear if the sensor tests bad.

Clarify this for me if you would.
FL Wheel Speed Sensor Resistance (Ranger) Off 24 + 25 k Ohms 1.0-1.4 k Ohms
off, key position?
24+25 kOhms? Is that at some test harness through a DRB type tool, maybe using the DLC?
I don't understand the 14+, 17+ terms, or how it's used in the example above for the FL sensor.

Update:

Dorman part number 970-022, LF wheel sensor.
Amazon price $61.02 includes priority mail shipping of about $5.

Prices for the sensor locally ranged from about $140 at Advance up to $190 at NAPA. Small town, very limited choices. Ordered 11/19 and it was in my hands today from Reno NV via USPS. I was impressed.

Replaced LF wheel sensor, ABS light cleared on self test.
Erased the stored code, ABS light blinks several time when you do this.
No ABS codes at this time.

Don't be afraid of this repair folks. It's straight forward. The caliper hanger bolts were tough, other than that no problems.
