Abs light on no speedometer no cruise

I have a 98 explorer sport and the abs light came on and the speedometer quit working and so I have no cruise control. Any ideas on what would cause this?

I'm thinking the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) located in the rear axle stopped working. easy fix if that's what it is. 1 small bolt and pull.

someone else just made a thread that if you pull the 10 amp abs fuse then the odo and the speedo stop working. you could check if that fuse is blown. (not sure which one it is though)
