ABS Question

The ABS light in my 94 eddie bauer 4x4 will come on occasionally. Just today i decided to scan the ABS for codes and got code 17. According to the 4ABS sticky post on this forum, code 17 is for "reference voltage". How should I go about diagnosing this further? What does reference voltage mean?

The understanding I got was it could be a speed sensor or even a bad wire/ broken connection.

I googled reference voltage and found something that seemed to be in the right area.

I might try reseating the connectors on the ABS computer and pump.
