In the rebuilding of my '94, my heat shield was destroyed. It was falling apart anyway.

At the wrecking yard, I picked up one off a 2nd gen and a Ranger as well. Neither will work as the covers are completely different in shape.

Has anyone replaced their heat shield and if so, what did you use?

Why couldn't you use any off the shelf heat insulating tape?

I use DEI heat reflective tape on various places on my vehicles, such as protecting transmission lines from nearby exhaust heat.

It would probably be a lot more effective than the old school Ford insulation anyways.

Ooooo, you can get it in gold!

Where do you normally get it from? Looks like it's mainly online.

I've gotten the standard silver stuff at the parts store.

Part #010408 is what I've been using. It's about $20 at the parts store, $17 online (free shipping). The roll goes a long way if you're not wasteful with it.
