- 2013 Explorer Xlt, 26k
Hey Everyone,
I have a 2013 Explorer XLT w/o the Towing package. I'm adding my own Curt receiver to it here soon. I really don't plan on towing much with it (maybe a pop up camper). My question is, can you add Fords factory oil cooler if it wasn't included from the factory? I honestly don't see myself needing to tow more than 2,000lbs, but just in case I was curious if this is possible.
I was looking at:

I did find it strange that everyone says you need the tow package to get up to the 5k mark. I've seen some brochures that say the same thing, but the manual for my car says nothing about it. All it says is that if I have a class III , its capable of towing up to 5k. Granted the aftermarket Curt reciever is limited to 4k anyway.
